It was founded on February 4 of 1898. Located in the Southwest of the province on the banks of the Lacar lake. It's at the present, the most important tourist center of the province of Neuquen. The Mapuches called it 'The Valley of the Gods' where they carried out their celebrations. It is almost occult in an amphitheater of mountains, lakes and forests of 'lenga', oaks and 'coihues'.
It is the head of the Lanin National Park. The city harbors around 30,000 inhabitants. With their alpine architecture and their imposing landscape, they make of this place a mountain village with diverse attractive for the visitor: sailing trips, nautical sports, fishing in all their modalities, trekkings, horseriding, winters sports in the Chapelco Hill, the most important ski center of the Province.
This city has an important infrastructure for the tourism: hotels, hostels, motels, cabins, tea houses, commercial center, restaurants with international food, casino and discos, offering to the tourist an excellent attention.
