It is the oldest town of Neuquen province (founded in 1883). It's a reflection of the tradition, religion and Mapuchue culture and one of the doors of entering to the Lanin National Park. The town has approximately 9 thousand inhabitants. Junín continues conserving the respect for the earth that the first inhabitants had to this paradise place.
As well as they express it, in the Handmade walk, the Week of the Aboriginal Craft, the Provincial Party of the 'Puestero' and the Rural Party, that they are the most popular events and it's very interested the great amount of crafts in wood, fabrics, spun and instruments of music that are exhibited for the sale, besides the musical shows and of Creole dexterity that they are carried out.
To a few Kilometers it's the access to the Lanin National Park, where it is the Chimehuin river, on the Huechulafquen lake and the Mallín river, whose greater attractiveness is the fly fishing. They offer several trips to the different lakes of the region, the Epulafquen terms and to the Valley of Hueyeltue where, in winter, you can practiced cross country ski.
In the Lanín vulcano of 3776 meters high is practiced the andinism. Another type of tourism has also been implemented, looking for spiritual treasures. With the beatification of Laura Vicuña (1891-1904), the alternative arose of implementing the denominated' religious tourism.
